This exercise is a full-scale readiness exercise, planned for 24 hours at Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg, Virginia. Exercise play is limited to participating agencies and to the Warm Hearth Village campus and designated surrounding locations. The exercise is being conducted within US Dept. of Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Protocols (HSEEP).  Warm Hearth Village is the only long-term care facility in Virginia that has a complete, tested Search and Rescue plan in the event a resident is reported as missing. This exercise will use that plan to demonstrate its ability to speedily assign search resources to the most likely areas, and to coordinate the efforts of Warm Hearth Staff with first responders.

Participating Organizations:
  • SouthWest Virginia Mountain Rescue Group
  • Warm Hearth Village
  • American Red Cross - Roanoke & New River Valleys
  • Virginia SAR Council and member groups
  • Virginia Dept. of Emergency Management
If you are interested in participating please use your chain of command.
