EXERCISE: WARNING ORDER - Potential Flooding

posted Mar 21, 2019, 6:11 AM by Richard Qualls

EXERCISE / EXERCISE / EXERCISE

VAWG is increasing our readiness status due to forecast heavy rainfall accumulations across the region today and into early morning tomorrow, particularly in the northern part of the state. There is a high potential for flooding in low lying areas.

All members should conduct readiness assessments of personal equipment and radios as well as evaluate personal safety and evacuation plans at home and work. Commanders, please ensure that all CAP vehicles and aircraft are secured in appropriate locations and ready for deployment in the event that VAWG is called to provide support.

Members available for deployment into the field on Friday or Saturday should indicate availability via the EXERCISE AVAILABILITY link, located at the bottom of the wing website.

It's a Wrap

Coastal and Fellow Group 2 Squadrons had a fantastic time supporting this year's Oceana Air Show. Along with the sights in the sky our Cadets and Senior Members showed off our Cessna 182 and educated the public on CAP missions, as well as participated in the ceremonial flag line.

Emergency Services & Aerospace Education Bivouac

posted Sep 3, 2018, 9:21 AM by Richard Qualls

The Group 2 ES & AE Bivouac was a resounding success this past weekend. Over 40 members from the Hampton Roads and Virginia Beach area came together to train in communications, search & rescue. The teams successfully located a simulated aircraft crash beacon and other ground task assignments. VHF and HF communications were setup to communicate with CAP aircraft overhead, ground teams, and to mass formal messages to incident command staff. Other activities included extinguishing small fires, setting up emergency shelter, and dining on field ration MRE's. Sunday Aerospace included completion of full size Hovercraft, rocketry, and drones. Well Done! Semper Vigilans!
